St. Louis Cardinals statement on Jeanine Duncan

ST. LOUIS, MO, June 7, 2013 - The following is a statement from the St. Louis Cardinals on the passing of Jeanine Duncan, wife of former Cardinals Pitching Coach Dave Duncan.

"The entire Cardinals organization was saddened upon hearing of the recent passing of Jeanine Duncan.

Jeanine fought her illness with courage and dignity. She will always be remembered as a devout wife and mother who supported her baseball family with passion and encouragement.

We wish to extend our thoughts and prayers to the entire Duncan family and their many friends."

Jeanine is the wife of former Cardinals Pitching Coach Dave Duncan and the mother of major leaguers Chris and Shelley Duncan. Dave served as the Cardinals Pitching Coach from 1996-2011 and Chris was a Cardinal from 2005-2009 and a member of the Cardinals 2006 World Championship team. Shelley is currently a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Services for Jeanine Duncan are planned for 11 a.m. CDT on Saturday, June 15 at Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, 4431 Lindell Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63108.
