Marte ties Bucs mark with 13th hit in series
Outfielder matches Hall of Famer Traynor's record in Pittsburgh's sixth straight win
DENVER -- Left fielder Starling Marte shares a spot in Pirates history with one of the franchise's most storied players.
Marte's four singles in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Rockies at Coors Field gave him 13 hits in the four-game series to tie him with Hall of Famer Pie Traynor for the most hits by a Pirates player in a four-game series. Marte went 13-for-20 (.650) with seven RBIs in the series.
Traynor had 13 hits from Aug. 2-4, 1928, against the Phillies.

"Pie Traynor? That's going back," Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said. "That's a big league name."
After hitting a single on each of his first four at-bats, Marte had a chance to surpass Traynor with two outs in the top of the ninth but grounded out to second base.
With the victory, their sixth in a row, the Pirates improved to 93-60 and remained four games behind the National League Central-leading Cardinals, who defeated the Brewers, 7-3, on Thursday night. Pittsburgh trimmed its magic number to clinch the top NL Wild Card spot to seven. The Cubs, 3 1/2 games behind the Pirates, were idle on Thursday.
