Royals Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations/General Manager Dayton Moore issued the following statement on behalf of the organization regarding the passing of Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez:
"On behalf of the Kansas City Royals, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the Miami Marlins' family on the tragic passing of Jose Fernandez. He was not only one of the most talented and competitive young men in our game, but he was a compassionate individual who had a zest for life and love for all those he came in contact with. This is an unimaginable tragedy for his family and any organization to endure and all we can do at this point is be supportive of our friends in Miami."
