Stats of the Day: Slam ends Frazier's solo string

Here are five interesting items from around the big leagues from Wednesday:

• In the Reds' 8-4 walk-off win against the Tigers, Todd Frazier hit his 21st home run of the year in the fourth inning and then ended the contest in the 13th with a grand slam. Before the game-ending slam, each of Frazier's last eight homers had been solo shots. For the season, the Reds third baseman has 16 home runs with no one on base -- the most in the Majors, ahead of the 15 from Giancarlo Stanton and Bryce Harper. The effort gave Frazier back-to-back multihomer games, and made him the first Reds player to have at least two in two straight contests since Barry Larkin in June 1991. In his next contest, Frazier will have the chance to match Lee May, who had three straight multihomer games in May of 1969.

• Kris Bryant hit his first career grand slam to help the Cubs trounce the Indians, 17-0. Bryant has 55 games under his belt, with a pair of four-RBI lines. • Felix Hernandez worked eight scoreless innings and picked up the win as Seattle took care of San Francisco, 2-0. Since 2005 (his debut season), Hernandez has 29 games in which he has finished his outing with at least eight innings and no runs allowed. The rest of the Mariners' pitchers have combined for 36 such performances since the start of the 2005 season. • In the Yankees' 2-1 victory over the Marlins, Carlos Beltran's single in the fifth inning gave the 38-year-old 1,400 career RBI. Since RBI became official in 1920, three other switch-hitters have driven in at least 1,400 runs: Eddie Murray (1,917), Chipper Jones (1,623) and Mickey Mantle (1,509).Video: MIA@NYY: Beltran knocks in Headley with an RBI single

• In Houston's 8-4 victory over the Rockies, George Springer went 3-for-5 to lift his June average to .406. Milestone watch for Thursday:

• The Royals' next win will give Ned Yost his 411th career victory with Kansas City, which will give him the most in franchise history. Whitey Herzog won 410, compiling a .574 winning percentage during his Royals tenure.

• Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander needs one start for 300 in his career. He will become the 107th pitcher in American League history to have at least 300. Verlander currently owns a .631 winning percentage. Among the 106 pitchers with at least 300 starts in the AL, only nine have a higher league winning percentage.
