CHICAGO -- Orioles outfielder Steve Pearce exited Sunday's 10-2 victory over the White Sox after four innings with a right elbow strain.
Pearce, who was acquired on Monday's non-waiver Trade Deadline, received a cortisone shot and was optimistic he would be able to avoid the disabled list.
"To get it taken care of right now, moving forward, getting the shot was the best idea to do," Pearce said following the win. "So we're going that route, and I'm very optimistic I'll be back in a couple days."
Pearce, who was replaced by Nolan Reimold in the fifth, didn't look comfortable making a throw in from right field on Todd Frazier's sacrifice fly.
"It's been lingering all year, but we've been managing it and on top of it," said Pearce, who played infield with Tampa Bay all season. "The whole goal was to get my arm ready to start playing the outfield, and it just kind of wasn't there yet."
"I don't want to broadcast it, but I guess I have," manager Buck Showalter said of Pearce's availability. "Hopefully by Tuesday or Wednesday, we have an idea of where are. We will make contingency plans if we need to."
