Pearce was sliding into second base after driving a double to the gap in right-center field. The headfirst slide took him to the left side of the bag as he twisted to avoid the tag.

Immediately after the slide, Pearce walked back to the dugout under his own power as the trainers came on to the field.

Ezequiel Carrera entered the game to pinch-run for Pearce and replaced him in left in the top of the third.
