Swisher leaves game with right wrist injury

CLEVELAND -- Tribe designated hitter Nick Swisher was removed from Sunday's extra-innings win over the Rangers because of a strained right wrist.

After striking out in all three of his at-bats, Swisher was replaced by outfielder Chris Dickerson in the ninth inning. Cleveland manager Terry Francona disclosed that the 33-year-old suffered the injury while swinging at a breaking ball from Texas starter Yu Darvish in the sixth inning.

"He has a mild strain of his right wrist," Francona said. "He was looked at and showed pretty good strength. He'll be looked at tomorrow and we'll go from there."

Swisher spent time on the disabled list earlier this year with a hyperextended knee. The veteran hitter is batting .212/.283/.339 through 93 games and has found little success at the plate in 2014.
