Tale of the Tape: Game 3

Bud Norris, Orioles
Against the Tigers
2014: 2 GS, 0-2, 6.39 ERA
Career: 4 GS, 0-3, 6.57 ERA
Loves to face: Alex Avila, 0-for-10, 5 K
Hates to face: Victor Martinez, 4-for-12, 1 HR

Game breakdown
Why he'll win: He's peaking at the right time, going 4-0 with a 2.08 ERA, .200 opponents' average and 34 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings over five September starts.
Pitcher beware: He gave up five runs in five innings at Comerica Park in his season debut, then lost to the Tigers in May, allowing four runs over 7 2/3 innings.
Bottom line: Despite the numbers this year, Norris has a good track record against Tigers hitters. They've hit .211/.250/.395 off him in 80 plate appearances.

David Price, Tigers
Against the Orioles
2014: 1 GS, 0-1, 5.40 ERA
Career: 17 GS, 7-3, 2.82 ERA
Loves to face: Adam Jones, 11-for-44, 11 K
Hates to face: Nelson Cruz, 10-for-28, 3 HR

Game breakdown
Why he'll win: Price is a workhorse, and he'll be on extra rest. He led the Majors with 271 strikeouts; he's up against a free-swinging Orioles lineup.
Pitcher beware: He prides himself on throwing strikes, but the Orioles can crush mistakes in the zone. Baltimore led MLB in homers, and Price allowed 25.
Bottom line: He has a 5.81 ERA in four postseason starts. But Price is an ace, and the Tigers picked him up for this kind of moment.
