"Getting a guy like McGee back, that's awesome, especially for our bullpen," pitcher Kevin Jepsen said. "It shortens the game, which is always nice."

In a corresponding move, the Rays optioned right-handed pitcher Matt Andriese to Triple-A Durham.

Before being sent down, Andriese recorded a four-inning save in Tampa Bay's 6-1 victory over the Yankees on Thursday. In seven appearances -- three starts -- this season, he went 0-1 with a 4.79 ERA.
