Rays sign Wade to Minor League deal
The Rays signed right-handed reliever Cory Wade to a Minor League deal on Monday.
Wade was released from the Cubs last week after posting a 7.88 ERA with Triple-A Iowa.
The 29-year-old has shown inconsistency at the Major League level, posting a 3.65 ERA over four seasons. He had a 6.46 ERA while striking out 38 batters and walking eight in 39 innings with the Yankees last year.
Wade last pitched a week ago, tossing a scoreless two-thirds of an inning to preserve an 8-2 win for Triple-A Durham.
