High school softball schedule announced

Pinkston High School softball calls Academy home

January 18th, 2019

The Texas Rangers today announced the schedule of high school softball games that will be played at the Texas Rangers MLB Youth Academy at Mercy Street Sports Complex, Presented by Toyota this season.

Pinkston High School softball will once again call the Academy their home field in 2019. The facility will also support some scheduling for David W. Carter High School and Pinkston Middle School, in addition to hosting the Dallas ISD Middle School Softball Tournament in May.

Tuesday, January 29, will mark opening day of the softball season at the facility, as Carter will face O.D. Wyatt High School.

Pinkston takes the field at the Academy for the first time on Friday, February 1, hosting James Madison High School on Hamilton Field.

"We absolutely love practicing and playing at the Rangers Academy because the field is turf and easy to play on," Pinkston softball coach Johnitta Williams said. "It means a lot to our team to have the opportunity to play at such a nice facility that is specifically for softball."

Stacey Segal, Dallas ISD's Assistant Director of Athletics, oversees the scheduling of baseball and softball games for the district. Segal said scheduling has been a challenge this year due to many field undergoing improvements, and the Academy has been instrumental in facilitating this season's slate.

"Dallas ISD is currently renovating two of our high school baseball fields with lights, and facilities have been hard to come by. Additionally, our three field softball complex went under construction" Segal said. "After moving 111 games, The Rangers Youth Academy has been a wonderful partner in allowing us and our students to play at Oates Field, Field of Dreams, Hamilton Field, and Kershaw Field."

Texas Rangers Director of Youth Academy & Youth Baseball Softball Programs Juan Leonel Garciga expressed the Academy's excitement with the continued partnership.

"As an organization, we are just excited to be able to step up and offer quality fields for these young men and women," Garciga said. "Not having a home field is difficult for any baseball or softball program, so the opportunity to serve as a home away from home is one that we are looking forward to this spring."

Pinkston High School Baseball will also call the Academy home in 2019, while the facility will also support scheduling for several other Dallas schools during the season. The schedule of baseball games at the Academy will be announced in the coming weeks.
Below is the current schedule of softball games at the Academy. Scheduling is subject to change.
