Texas Rangers Activate 1B Mitch Moreland from 15-day Disabled List; Option RHP Josh Lindblom to Round Rock

RHP Yoshinori Tateyama sent to New York Yankees for future considerations

St. Louis, Missouri - The Texas Rangers today activated 1B Mitch Moreland from the 15-day disabled list. Moreland will be in uniform for Friday's game in St. Louis.

To make room for Moreland, RHP Josh Lindblom has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.

Moreland was placed on the disabled list on June 6 after sustaining a right hamstring strain running the bases the previous night in Boston. He was 6-for-12 with a homer and 3 RBI in 3 games on rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco, June 17-19. Moreland is hitting .288 with 12 homers and 29 RBI in 58 games for Texas this season.

Lindblom had no decision in a start on Thursday versus Oakland (5.0 IP, 8 H, 2 R-ER, 2 BB, 2 SO) and is 0-2, 5.40 in 4 starts in two separate stints with the Rangers this season.

In addition, the Rangers have sent RHP Yoshinori Tateyama to the New York Yankees for future considerations. Tateyama has been assigned from Round Rock to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He has spent the entire season at Round Rock, going 0-1, 4.24 with one save in 23 games for the Express. The right-hander spent portions of the 2011-12 seasons with Texas, going 3-0, 5.75 with one save in 53 relief appearances. He was signed as a free agent by Texas in November 2010 after pitching 12 seasons in the Japanese Pacific League.
