Texas Rangers announce rotation for Colorado series

RHP Roy Oswalt will be added to active roster and make first Rangers start on Friday

The Texas Rangers today announced that RHP Roy Oswalt will make his debut in a start on Friday, when the club returns home to begin a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies.

Oswalt will be followed in the Rockies series by RHP Colby Lewis on Saturday and LHP Matt Harrison on Sunday. Oswalt will have his contract purchased from AAA Round Rock prior to Friday’s start. Texas will make corresponding moves on both the active and 40-man rosters at that time to accommodate the right-hander.

Oswalt is 1-1, 5.87 in four minor league starts at Round Rock (3) and AA Frisco (1) since he signed with Texas on May 29. He defeated Oklahoma City in his last start for Round Rock on June 17, allowing 6 hits and 2 runs in 6.0 innings while throwing 100 pitches.

Oswalt is 159-93, 3.21 in 339 games/326 starts with Houston and Philadelphia in his major league career. Friday will be his first outing since he lost Game 4 of the 2011 NLDS to St. Louis (5 ER./6.0 IP) and the first in the regular season since he pitched 6.0 shutout innings to defeat Atlanta on Sept. 27, 2011.
