Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation to host labor day race

Inaugural race expects close to 1,000 runners

The Texas Rangers are expecting close to 1,000 Rangers fans for the first-ever Rangers Race at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington benefiting the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation this Labor Day, Monday, September 3.

Fans wishing to participate still have the opportunity to register the morning of the race by paying $12 for the 1K fun run/walk and $32 for the 5K. Race day registration and packet pick-up will open at the West Box Office beginning at 6:30 a.m. Parking is available in Lots A,B,C and M at the Ballpark. Road closures near the Ballpark will begin at 6:30 a.m. and reopen later that morning at 10:00 a.m.

The day of activities will kick-off at 7:40 a.m. with a 1K fun run/walk around the Ballpark that is open to fans of all ages. The inaugural Rangers 5K Race begins at 8:00 a.m. Participants registered for the 5K can also take part in the 1K.

Former Texas Rangers player Pete O’Brien will greet runners and participate in the race. In addition, some of the Texas Rangers Wives are serving as race hosts. The race begins and ends at Nolan Ryan Expressway near Home Plate with the course directing runners past Mark Holtz Lake, The Road to Six Flags and Ballpark Way. Water stations will be operated by Texas Rangers staff and students from the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation’s just keep livin’ program that encourages local youth to develop healthy lifestyles.

Rangers Captain and the Fox Sports Southwest Girls will be on hand to congratulate the runners as they cross the finish line and receive their completion ribbons and race t-shirts. After the race, runners can enter the Ballpark for a post-race celebration and refreshments beginning at 8:10 a.m. Medals will be awarded to the top finishers of the race at that time.

The Rangers Race is part of the Foundation’s commitment to increase youth fitness and help members of the community lead healthy lives. The race is being coordinated by Rangers Enterprises and RunTIME Running Company.
