Club agrees to terms on 2016 contract with C Chris Gimenez

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced this evening that the club will not tender 2016 contract offers to righthanded pitcher Nick Tepesch and outfielder James Jones before tonight's 11:00 p.m. CST deadline.

The club has also agreed to terms on a one-year contract for 2016 with catcher Chris Gimenez.

The team has tendered 2016 contract offers to all other players on the roster.

Tepesch was on the Rangers' 60-day disabled list for the entire 2015 season and underwent surgery to correct Thoracic Outlet Syndrome on August 19. Jones was acquired in a November 16 trade with Seattle. He has batted .238 in 136 major league games with the Mariners over the last 2 seasons (2014-15), including 28 games across three stints with Seattle in 2015.

Gimenez batted .255 (25-98) over 36 games with Texas last season, establishing major league career highs with 5 home runs and 14 RBI.

With tonight's transactions, the Rangers now have 37 players on the major league roster.
