Texas Rangers roster moves for March 28

Surprise, Arizona---Texas Rangers' roster moves for Saturday, March 28:

--Acquired LHP Sam Freeman from the St. Louis Cardinals for a player to be named later or cash. Freeman is expected to report on Sunday.

--Optioned RHP Anthony Ranuado to Triple-A Round Rock.

--Reassigned RHP Ross Ohlendorf to minor league camp.

--Released RHP Juan Carlos Oviedo and OF Nate Schierholtz from their minor league contracts.

With today's moves, the Rangers' major league roster is at 40 players with INF Jurickson Profar and Perez on the 60-day DL. There are also 40 players remaining on the active spring training roster, including injured players RHP Yu Darvish, LHP Matt Harrison, and OF Antoan Richardson.
