Texas Rangers to host Playoff Spirit Rally tomorrow at Duff Elementary School in Arlington

Playoff Spirit Rally to kick off the 2012-13 Medical Center Arlington Texas Rangers Fitness All-Stars program

Arlington, TX—The Texas Rangers will host a Rangers Playoff Spirit Rally, TOMORROW, TUESDAY, October 2, 2012. The outdoor event will take place at Duff Elementary School in Arlington beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Approximately 100 fifth grade students from Duff Elementary will be in attendance to congratulate the Texas Rangers on clinching a playoff spot for a third consecutive year. At the beginning of the rally, students will display banners and signs they made wishing the Texas Rangers good luck in the playoffs. The rally will kick-off the sixth year of the Medical Center Arlington (MCA) Fitness All-Stars program designed to promote healthy life choices and prevent childhood obesity for all Arlington ISD fifth grade students.

As a special surprise, members from the Arlington Fire Department, Rangers Captain and former Texas Rangers pitcher, Mike Jeffcoat will arrive at Duff Elementary riding a fire truck. Once the group arrives they will have a brief meet and greet with students.  

During the second half of the rally, Mike Jeffcoat and Arlington firefighters will join MCA staff to speak about the importance of exercise and healthy eating. In addition, Jeffcoat and Arlington firefighters will participate in a number of physical activities with the students including: Run the Bases and Tug-of-War. The Fitness All-Stars program is a partnership between Medical Center Arlington, the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and the Arlington Fire Department.
