The Cleveland Indians Unveil 2012 Digital Media Initiatives

Indians Establish Digital Media Network with Addition of Four New Digital Media Platforms

The Cleveland Indians have expanded their social media reach for the 2012 Major League season. In conjunction with Major League Baseball Advanced Media, the Indians will utilize six social platforms, including four new additions for 2012, and provide fans with seamless in-park social experiences, all aimed to deliver unique interactions based on different fan interests.

"We're cognizant of the importance of social media as a tool to engage with fans," said Indians President MARK SHAPIRO. "We now have the opportunity to directly connect to our fans and engage in authentic, two-way conversations. These connections with fans strengthen our brand vision to create memories, connect generations and celebrate families."

The first social media-only space in professional sports, the Indians Social Suite, returns for 2012. The Suite will provide fans the opportunity to chat about the Tribe offline with other suite attendees and online with friends and followers directly from a Wi-Fi-enabled suite at Progressive Field. New elements for this season include meet and greets with Indians alumni and front office personnel, an exclusive Google+ circle and cosmetic updates to the suite including flat-screen HDTVs. Invitations to the Indians Social Suite are distributed on a game-by-game basis and fans may apply online at www.indians.com/connect.
