D-backs' bats break out vs. Rockies after Bradley injury
PHOENIX -- The D-backs hit a pair of home runs and rapped out 15 hits as they beat the Rockies, 12-5, on Tuesday night at Chase Field to snap a four-game losing streak.
Arizona outfielder Mark Trumbo led the way with four RBIs, finishing a double shy of hitting for the cycle.The offensive support made a winner of reliever Andrew Chafin, who was summoned in the second inning after Archie Bradley was injured.
"The guys did a great job, good at-bats," D-backs manager Chip Hale said. "We got the ball up a little bit and we were able to get the ball up and we were able to do some damage early and then continue to do it during the game. That's a good sign for me, because sometimes you score runs early and shut it down, but we just kept having good at-bats."

Charlie Blackmon drove in a pair of runs for the Rockies. Colorado starter Kyle Kendrick (1-3) suffered the loss allowing eight runs on 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings.
"My first three starts I wasn't aggressive. Tonight I wanted to be aggressive like my last start, but so were they," Kendrick said. "I was trying to get ahead, but they were out there swinging, especially in that first inning. They swung the bats really well. Obviously, I wasn't good at all. I just have to keep battling."

Scary situation: The game became secondary in the second inning when Bradley was struck in the right side of his face by a line drive off the bat of Carlos Gonzalez. Bradley lay motionless before eventually walking off the field under his own power. More >

Chances to score: The Rockies had beaucoup opportunities to score, loading the bases in the second and third innings, but they only produced one run. In the third, they loaded the sacks with one out, but Chafin whiffed Gonzalez and Nick Hundley to end that threat.

Bats alive: Runs have been fairly tough to come by for the D-backs of late, but they busted out in a big way. David Peralta and Trumbo each hit two-run homers, with Trumbo finishing 90 feet shy of the cycle. Trumbo had a chance to complete the feat in the seventh when he hit a blooper to right field. He took a big turn at first base, but opted not to test Gonzalez's rocket arm -- probably a wise decision.

Double your trouble: The Rockies added three doubles to their Major League-leading total that now stands at 50. Back-to-back doubles by Kendrick and Blackmon produced the run that tied the score, 3-3, in the top of the fourth.

Paul Goldschmidt has hit in 19 consecutive games against Colorado, dating back to July 5, 2013. The longest such streaks for the D-backs against the Rockies are Luis Gonzalez with 38 from July 25, 2000, to Sept. 21, 2002, and Justin Upton with 27 from July 4, 2010, to May 17, 2012.

With one out and Trumbo on third via a two-run triple in the bottom of the first, Yasmany Tomas hit a grounder to third. Nolan Arenado tagged Trumbo as he slid back into the base, before throwing to first for what appeared to be a double play. Third-base umpire Mike Winters called Trumbo safe, but after a quick review the call was overturned.

Rockies: Colorado concludes its three-game series at Chase against the D-backs on Wednesday at 7:40 p.m. MST. Right-hander Jordan Lyles (2-1, 2.92 ERA) is slated to make the start.
