The Marlins Foundation Fox Sports Fantasy Auction Raises a record $125,500

The Miami Marlins today announced that the Marlins Foundation raised $125,500 through the FOX Sports Fantasy Auction held on Wednesday, June 3, at Marlins Park. The amount marked the most raised in the event's 10-year history, surpassing last year's total of $103,000. Proceeds from the auction benefit the education initiatives of the Marlins Foundation.

"We are extremely proud of the success of this year's Fantasy Auction," said Marlins President David Samson. "The money raised impacts many in our community. Thank you to our fans, Fox Sports Florida, and our sponsors for their support and joining us in our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility. Wednesday marked a great night for the Fish Family both on and off the field."

For the 10th consecutive year, FOX Sports Florida, the exclusive regional television home of the Marlins, hosted a special on-air auction giving viewers at home and fans at Marlins Park the opportunity to bid on once-in-a-lifetime packages. The Marlins Education Fund was established to provide financial support to education-focused partners of the team. Beneficiaries have included local universities and organizations such as Teach For America, City Year Miami, Breakthrough Miami, 5000 Role Models of Excellence, the National Academy Foundation and the College Assistance Program, Inc.

Since moving to Marlins Park, the Marlins Foundation has donated over $1,000,000 to education initiatives. Examples include an annual school supplies distribution alongside the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana to students in the neighborhood. Funds raised during the Fantasy Auction also benefit multiple scholarships for local students.
