Rays set rotation for final series vs. Toronto

ST. PETERSBURG -- Rays manager Kevin Cash announced the team's starting pitchers for the Toronto series that concludes the season: Erasmo Ramirez, Chris Archer and Matt Moore.

The decision to start Moore wasn't a difficult one, even though he's been on the mend from Tommy John surgery.

Tuesday night Moore gave the Rays his third consecutive quality start en route to his fifth win of the season.

"He's had a pretty good workload his last three starts," Cash said. "And that's why we got him the extra day [of rest] this last go around [through the rotation]. It's more about how his body is responding and his arm. He feels great. And if he feels good we want to see him out there."

Moore is 1-1 with a 3.26 ERA in five starts since his Sept. 5 recall from Triple-A Durham. He went 1-3 with an 8.78 ERA in his first six starts back with the team before getting sent to Durham, where he went 2-1 with a 3.30 ERA in five starts.

"He definitely wanted to make the start," Cash said. "We told him [Tuesday] night after the ballgame and he was good with it. We're excited for him."
