The University of Kansas Hospital and the Royals extend official healthcare provider partnership

The Kansas City Royals and The University of Kansas Hospital today announced the partnership extension and renewal as the official healthcare provider for the team. This official partnership began in 2011.

"We are proud of the work we have done and the confidence the Kansas City Royals have shown in us the past five years. Dayton Moore, Nick Kenney and the management of the club have always made the health and safety of their athletes a number one priority. We are honored they have asked The University of Kansas Hospital to continue to provide medical care, not only to the big league club, but the entire organization. We look forward to our continued partnership serving the healthcare needs of the Royals community," said Bob Page, president and chief executive officer of The University of Kansas Hospital.

"We couldn't be happier with the partnership between the Royals and the University of Kansas Hospital," said Royals Senior Vice President-Baseball Operations and General Manager Dayton Moore. "Trusting the experience and expertise of Dr. Key and the entire medical team has made a tremendous difference in the short and long term health of our players." Moore added, "We not only cherish the hospital's commitment to our team and organization but also the entire Kansas City Community."

Under the agreement, the Sports Medicine and Performance Center at The University of Kansas Hospital will continue to provide medical care to the team. The specialists at The University of Kansas Hospital will provide comprehensive health care, from preseason screening , in-season orthopedic and medical services, to post season treatment and recovery.

The hospital and the Royals will maintain its Health Awareness Days initiatives at Kauffman Stadium and provide first aid for fans at every home game along with other events scheduled at Kauffman Stadium. In addition, various marketing assets of the hospital will remain at the stadium.   The Royals will conduct several on-site visits to The University of Kansas Hospital featuring players, alumni, Sluggerrr and front office personnel.

Both organizations also will join together to expand their mutual support of their charitable endeavors.
