PHOENIX -- Outfield prospect Trayce Thompson slugged a three-run homer in a five-run first inning off Brewers starting pitcher Wily Peralta, and the Dodgers cruised to a 6-2 win on Monday.
Fifth-starter candidate Mike Bolsinger tossed four scoreless innings for the Dodgers, who had three hits from second baseman Micah Johnson and two runs scored from Justin Turner in his Cactus League debut. Thompson and Johnson came over from the White Sox in the three-team Todd Frazier trade in December.
Turner, returning cautiously from microfracture knee surgery, had an RBI double, walked and made a diving defensive stop at third base. He is expected to be at full strength for Opening Day.
"Everything's a test to see how I feel on both sides of the ball," said Turner. "I felt good today. I was anxious to get back out there in a real game. I slid into home, dived for a ball and everything felt fine."
Bolsinger held the Brewers to a pair of hits and a walk over his four innings. Jonathan Lucroy, serving as Milwaukee's designated hitter, reached twice and drove in the first Brewers run with a single in the sixth.
"I feel like I've kind of reinvented myself as a pitcher," Bolsinger said. "The scouting report on me is curveball and offspeed. I feel I can fool guys with the fastball. I did today, with some weird hacks. It was nice."
Peralta settled after the first, although Adrian Gonzalez hit an RBI double off him in the third. Peralta allowed six runs -- three earned -- in 3 2/3 innings.
"[Peralta] really got his slider going, and that was really good to see," Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. "I thought there was an adjustment in there for him. After the Adrian Gonzalez double, I thought the slider really came alive for him. He got four strikeouts after that on the slider. I saw progress, which you like to see."
Up next for the Brewers: The Brewers are off Tuesday and will resume play Wednesday at 2:05 p.m. CT, with Matt Garza on the mound against Carlos Rodon and the White Sox on MLB.TV.
Up next for the Dodgers:Kenta Maeda will make his third start for the Dodgers on Tuesday at 1:05 p.m. PT at Camelback Ranch against Jose Quintana and the White Sox. It will be the last game for Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez before he leaves to join Mexico for the World Baseball Classic qualifier in Mexicali. That will give extra playing time at first base for Scott Van Slyke and Cody Bellinger.
