Cleveland Indians announce tickets for potential Tiebreaker game at Progressive Field on sale today

Tiebreaker game would be held Monday, Sept. 30, at Progressive Field and determine entrance into Postseason play. Expecting high demand for Tiebreaker game, Indians encourage fans to buy early at Indians.com/Tiebreaker to ensure access to tickets. Time of game TBD.

The Cleveland Indians announced today that tickets for a potential American League Tiebreaker game at Progressive Field on Monday, Sept. 30, are on sale now at Indians.com/Tiebreaker.

The Indians, Tampa Bay Rays and Texas Rangers are still alive for two American League's Postseason spots, and depending upon the results of the teams' remaining games, a Tiebreaker game or games could be necessary to determine the last entrants into the Postseason.

Two scenarios could lead to a Tiebreaker game at Progressive Field:

  • If Tampa Bay wins one of the final remaining AL Postseason spots outright, and the Indians and Rangers end up tied for the final spot: The Indians would play host to a Tiebreaker game on Monday, Sept. 30, by way of a head-to-head advantage over Texas.
  • If Cleveland, Tampa Bay and Texas all end up tied for the final two AL Postseason spots: Cleveland will play host to an American League Tiebreaker game vs. Tampa Bay on Monday at Progressive Field. The loser will play at Texas on Tuesday in a second AL Tiebreaker game, with the games' winners playing on Wednesday in the American League Wild Card Game. Home-field advantage for the Wild Card game will be determined by the head-to-head record of the two Wild Card teams.

Indians Full Season Ticket Holders and Partial Season Ticket Holders who purchased Postseason ticket strips can manage their tickets for the Tiebreaker through FanPass and either print them or digitally distribute them. If Season Ticket Holders have printed books, they can use tickets labeled "Tiebreaker No. 1" with a photo of Indians pitcher Justin Masterson.

Partial Season Ticket Holders who have not purchased Postseason ticket strips do not have Tiebreaker game tickets, and must buy Single-Game Tickets if they want to attend the Tiebreaker game.

Non-Season Ticket Holders wishing to purchase Tiebreaker tickets can visit Indians.com/Tiebreaker now. If tickets remain available and the Tiebreaker Game will be played, fans can purchase tickets in person at the Progressive Field Ticket Office and all Indians Team Shops beginning Monday morning.
