It's Opening Day all over again today for six teams forced to begin their seasons on the road. They now get to debut shiny new squads at home to eager fan bases eager for temperatures to rise. All are excited for one thing: Baseball is back in their city. Two division winners highlight MLB's half-dozen home openers, here to get you through Friday and to the weekend.
A Motown opening act: NYY@DET, 1:10 p.m. ET
The icy forecast shouldn't faze Wisconsin native Jordan Zimmermann, who will become the first Tigers starter to debut in the team's home opener since Comerica Park opened in 2000.
"My Draft video, I think I was throwing in a blizzard," he said. "I've pitched in snow. I've pitched in cold. I've pitched in 100-degree heat. I've pretty much seen it all."
Detroit's new $110 million man will need to avoid being upstaged by Yankees youngster Luis Severino, who also is making his first start of the season.
Waiting on the world to change: PHI@NYM, 1:10 p.m., MLB Network
The Mets' latest mini melodrama revolves around Jacob deGrom's wife, Stacey, who is past due with the couple's first child. Whether deGrom pitches Friday will depend on whether Stacey goes into labor before first pitch.
"Everybody says the first one's a little different," he said. "I think just whenever I get the call, I'm going to go ahead and leave."
If deGrom can't start, Bartolo Colon will line up opposite Phillies righty Jerad Eickhoff. But if deGrom does go and if the timing doesn't work, the Mets could have yet another pitcher become a father while on the mound -- after Jeurys Familia and Jonathon Niese did so last season.

One of the great things about baseball is supposed to be that it doesn't change, right? John Danks is a testament to that on the south side of Chicago. His start against Cleveland's Danny Salazar will be his 121st at home for the White Sox and the debut of the mainstay's 10th season. Danks should crack the White Sox top 10 in total games started this season, an impressive feat given the franchise has been around since 1901.
Story time: SD@COL, 4:10 p.m.
It's about time the Denver faithful met their favorite author. They've been reading about him all week -- Trevor Story, the 23-year-old supernova whose at-bats now need to be bookmarked as mandatory viewing. This week, Story became the first player to hit four homers in his first three games. All came at Arizona's Chase Field. When Rockies righty Jordan Lyles squares off against Padres rookie Colin Rea, the focus will be on what kind of show Story can put on in Coors Field's thin air.
"I've just been to Coors three times," Story said. "I've never taken batting practice on the field, though."

Return of the MVP rain: BOS@TOR, 7:07 p.m.
The Blue Jays' 2016 Rogers Centre debut should come complete with a collective sigh of Canadian relief. That's because 2015 American League MVP Award winner Josh Donaldson, who strained his calf Wednesday against Tampa Bay, is expected to play in front of the populace whose baseball interest he helped revitalize last year. Donaldson will receive his MVP Award prior to the game, which will pit Marcus Stroman against Red Sox righty Joe Kelly.
New year, new me: OAK@SEA, 10:10 p.m.
Seattle fans are set to get their first in-person look at 13 new players -- 14 if you include the rejuvenated Robinson Cano, who is slugging like it's 2012 -- as well as rookie manager Scott Servais. Ken Griffey Jr. is scheduled to throw out the first pitch, with Seattle righty Taijuan Walker and Oakland lefty Eric Surkamp set to throw the competitive ones after that.
