DETROIT- The Detroit Tigers will host over 1,900 students from local schools to participate in Space Day, the fourth installment of the Tigers annual "Class Outside Series," presented by Oakland University, prior to the Wednesday May 18th game vs. the Minnesota Twins at 1:10 p.m. Space Day is specially designed for elementary, middle school and high school students. Tickets for Space Day are still available for purchase and include early entry into Comerica Park for the educational event. Comerica Park Gate D will open at 10:00 a.m. and the workshop will start promptly at 10:45 a.m. and last until 11:30 a.m. To purchase a ticket for Space Day, please go to tigers.com/classoutside.
Students attending will learn about the science of space and how it relates to Michigan. The pregame program will feature several science experiments by the Michigan Science Center, and a lesson on the size of our universe. In addition, the Space Day program will focus on technology taking us into a new era of spaceflight, including a mini-space shuttle called Dream Chaser^®. Students will also learn about the evolving commercial space industry and how it's benefitting life here on Earth. The program features special guest John Roth, Vice President of Business Development at Sierra Nevada Corporation. SNC's Dream Chaser® is America's next-generation spacecraft recently selected by NASA to provide cargo transportation services to the International Space Station. Roth will also participate in a Q&A session with students following his presentation.

The Detroit Tigers Class Outside Educational Series, presented by Oakland University, includes a morning of interactive, academic-based presentations followed by a Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park. The Class Outside Educational Series is made up of six unique educational events, including Career Day (April 10), Weather Day (April 11), Math Day (April 28), Space Day (May 18), Journalism Day (May 25), and Strike Out Bullying Rally (June 8).
