Rain washes out Tigers' game vs. White Sox

Contest to be rescheduled as part of day-night doubleheader Sept. 21

DETROIT -- Saturday afternoon's White Sox-Tigers game at Comerica Park was postponed due to inclement weather.

The game will be rescheduled as part of a split doubleheader on Monday, Sept. 21. The first game will start at 1:08 p.m. ET, while the second game will start at 7:08 p.m.

All paid tickets for Saturday's game will be honored for the first game of the split doubleheader on Sept. 21. No ticket exchange is necessary.

Rainout policy

Left-hander David Price will start for Detroit in Sunday's series finale, bumping southpaw Kyle Ryan from his spot in the rotation. Chicago will counter with righty Jeff Samardzija, skipping John Danks, who was scheduled to take the mound Saturday.

Danks is 0-4 with a 6.85 ERA over his last four starts, while Ryan has a 4.76 ERA in three starts since joining the Tigers' rotation.

Both clubs have a day off Monday. The White Sox will start lefty Chris Sale on Tuesday and Jose Quintana on Wednesday in St. Louis.

Starters for the Tigers' three-game series against Pittsburgh remain undecided. Right-hander Justin Verlander, who missed his last start due to back stiffness, threw a bullpen session on Saturday afternoon. If he responds well to pitching off a mound, he could start Tuesday, but that decision won't be made until Sunday. If Verlander can't go, Detroit would likely turn to righty Alfredo Simon.
