DETROIT -- Heavy rain in the Midwest didn't just throw the Tigers' schedule into flux. With Triple-A Toledo also rained out, JaCoby Jones' rehab assignment is being held up, too.
Jones, currently on the 10-day disabled list with a left lip laceration, is on a rehab assignment with the Mud Hens. They were scheduled to wrap up their road trip on Thursday at Indianapolis, but like the Tigers' series finale against the Indians, that game was rained out. The Hens are scheduled to return home on Friday, but the same weather system forecast to bring rain across Michigan through Friday is affecting Toledo.
With the Tigers leaving for the West Coast on Thursday, and team officials wanting Jones to get more at-bats with Toledo, they decided to hold off on any decision until next week. Jones will remain with the Mud Hens at least through the weekend.
Jones is 4-for-17 (.235) with two doubles in five games with Toledo. He has walked twice and struck out three times. The rookie was batting .150 (6-for-40) with 19 strikeouts for the Tigers when he was hit by a pitch a week and a half ago at Minnesota, so the rehab assignment gives him at-bats in lower-pressure situations as he tries to regain his plate discipline.

Meanwhile, Jim Adduci, who improved to 10-for-31 (.323) with four RBIs after his two-hit game Wednesday against Cleveland, has made the most of his callup.
The Tigers platooned Tyler Collins and Michael Mahtook in right field while Jones started in center early this season. Jones' injury pushed Collins to center with superutility player Andrew Romine. Both Collins and Adduci bat left-handed, so they're unlikely to platoon with each other. Nor would Collins seem likely to platoon with Jones in center since the Tigers want Jones getting regular at-bats wherever he's playing.
For at least a few more days, the Tigers don't have to sort that out.

• In other Tigers injury news, Ian Kinsler remains day to day after leaving Wednesday's game against the Indians with left hamstring tightness, according to a team spokesperson. He'll travel with the team to the West Coast.
• J.D. Martinez remains in Lakeland, Fla., where he's scheduled to return to extended spring training games at designated hitter after fouling a ball off his left foot. Martinez, who has been on the 10-day DL with a right midfoot sprain since the season began, has yet to play the outfield and is progressing on a timetable based on pain tolerance.
• Double-A Erie reliever Paul Voelker, the 23rd-ranked prospect in the Tigers' system by MLBPipeline.com, received a 50-game suspension without pay from Major League Baseball after testing positive for amphetamine. The suspension is effective immediately. Voelker had two saves in nine appearances for the SeaWolves, allowing five runs on eight hits in 11 1/3 innings with a walk and eight strikeouts.
• The Tigers announced on Thursday that they've sold the rights to right-hander Jake Brigham to Nexen Heroes of the Korea Baseball Organization. Brigham signed a Minor League contract this past offseason but never appeared in a game at any level.
