Leyland has no comment on Biogenesis

DETROIT -- Manager Jim Leyland has been a voice on a lot of topics, having been a longtime member of Major League Baseball's Committee on On-Field Matters. The ongoing investigation into the Biogenesis Clinic in Miami and potential discipline to come out of it, however, is something he's not touching.

"I don't think I'm going to comment on any of that, because I don't really know anything about it," Leyland said on Wednesday. "I think it's better off for me to just keep my mouth shut. I truthfully don't know anything about that."

Leyland's remarks came a day after a report on ESPN's Outside the Lines stated that MLB could use former Biogenesis head Anthony Bosch's cooperation to seek suspensions on up to 20 players, possibly including shortstop Jhonny Peralta.

"I'm usually not afraid to speak my mind," Leyland said, "but I want to know what I'm talking about when I do, and I truthfully know nothing about this stuff."
