Kinsler, Miggy, V-Mart need boost in ASG voting

June 15th, 2016

CHICAGO -- Ian Kinsler is on a roll, but he still has ground to make up at second base on the 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot.
Kinsler, who entered Tuesday with home runs in three straight games and nine RBIs in that span, remains fifth in the latest ballot update.
Kinsler has 376,095 votes, trailing Jose Altuve (1,230,619), Robinson Cano (767,882), Omar Infante (711,439) and Dustin Pedroia (686,853) at second base.

Despite that, Tigers manager Brad Ausmus didn't hesitate to say where he thinks Kinsler ranks among second basemen in the American League.
"At the top," Ausmus said. "I'd have to look at the names, but he's pretty darn good."
Elsewhere on the ballot, Miguel Cabrera is gaining ground on the Royals' Eric Hosmer for the top spot at first base. Cabrera had a better voting week than Hosmer for the first time this year, drawing 357,973 votes to Hosmer's 341,459. Hosmer, hoping for his first Midsummer Classic selection, still has a healthy lead of 521,939 overall votes.
Nick Castellanos is fifth at third base behind Manny Machado, an injured Mike Moustakas, Josh Donaldson and Adrian Beltre.
At designated hitter, Victor Martinez is third behind David Ortiz and Kendrys Morales.
