DETROIT -- During a time when four regular players are on the disabled list, the Tigers haven't shown many signs of worry from an offensive standpoint. After erupting for 19 runs and 24 hits in Tuesday's 19-9 win over the Mariners, Detroit has racked up 37 runs and 48 hits in the past three games.
Not only have mainstays like Ian Kinsler -- 4-for-5 with two RBIs on Tuesday -- and Victor Martinez -- who collected his first two extra-base hits of the season in the past two games -- started to heat up, the replacements from Triple-A Toledo have been on a roll.

Jim Adduci went 3-for-6 and fell a home run shy of the cycle on Tuesday, and John Hicks got a pinch-hit single.

"Any time you've got guys out, it's important for the next guys to step up, and that's what happened," catcher James McCann said, of Adduci and Hicks. "It's been a lot of fun to see the early success they've had."
McCann has heated up a bit himself, going 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs in the win. That pushes his homer total to five on the season, to complement fellow catcher Alex Avila's four home runs. The duo has enjoyed a good start to the season, and has already racked up more than half of their combined home run total (17) in 2016.

"I think, speaking for both of us, [we are] looking for quality at-bats, looking to have a tough out every time you step up to the plate," McCann said. "And when that happens, and when you stay within yourself, and you get a good pitch to hit and you don't miss it, that can be the result."
Manager Brad Ausmus has been happy with both of his catchers, joking that they are on pace to break the record of combined home runs by two catchers.
"In batting practice, [Avila has] looked good, he drives the ball the other way well like he did tonight," Ausmus said. "He hit the ball to left-center field for a home run. He looks really good at the plate."

 While Kinsler hasn't had the hottest start this season, Ausmus doesn't seem to be too concerned about his leadoff man, especially after his busy night on Tuesday.
"I'm not worried about Ian Kinsler, trust me," Ausmus said. "His average is a little down, but he's actually getting on base quite a bit. He's got a lot of walks. Today, he got some hits."
