Join us Saturday when the Tigers honor Carlos Guillen during seventh annual ¡Fiesta Tigres! Celebration

Guillen to be inducted in the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Hall of Fame

The Tigers will host the seventh annual ¡Fiesta Tigres! Celebration, sponsored by Miller Lite, this Saturday, August 4 to recognize and honor the contributions of Hispanic and Latino players to the game of baseball. Current Tigers players with Hispanic or Latino heritage will be honored as part of the Fiesta Tigres celebration. In addition to current Tigers players, the Tigers will host former Tigers player and three-time All-Star, Carlos Guillen, who will be honored in a special pregame ceremony and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

McDonald's is teaming up with the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum Hall of Fame to celebrate the contributions of Latino players to baseball. As part of the 2012 program, Carlos Guillen will be inducted into the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum Hall of Fame. The induction will take place during the special pregame ceremony before the Tigers take on the Cleveland Indians at 7:05 p.m. The Tigers were one of three teams in Major League Baseball selected to work with McDonald's on their 2012 baseball initiative, which pays tribute to the rich heritage and strong presence of Hispanics and Latinos in baseball. Guillen will also be the featured guest at the Fiesta Tigres  Luncheon, hosted by MillerCoors. Leaders from the Detroit Latino community will be in attendance at the luncheon, which will take place on Friday, August 3 at 11:30 a.m. in the Tiger Club.

This year, as part of the Fiesta Tigres festivities, McDonald's will host a youth baseball clinic for 100 children at Clark Park in Southwest Detroit on Friday, August 3. Tigers infielder Ramon Santiago along with Tigers coaches Rafael Belliard and Mike Rojas and Tigers Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Javair Gillett are all scheduled to participate in the clinic. Prior to Saturday’s game, McDonald's will host an interactive station at Columbia Plaza for all fans to enjoy baseball-related games, McDonald's samplings, a live DJ and much more. McDonald's will host the children from the previous day’s clinic at Saturday's game. A select group of clinic participants will have the opportunity to watch batting practice from the field, meet current Latino Tigers players and participate in the Fiesta Tigres pregame ceremony.

Fiesta Tigres will feature folkloric dance group Moyocoyani Izel and musical acts Mariachi Cora, Orchestra Sensacional, Tumbao Bravo, Los Primos along with DJ Rob-Play NYC and DJ Cisco spinning the latest Latino jams. The live music will compliment the décor of flags from Spanish-speaking countries adorning the park along with photos of past and present Hispanic and Latino Tigers players. The first 10,000 fans 21-and-over will receive a ¡Fiesta Tigres! Acrylic Mug, courtesy of Miller Lite. The night will conclude with a special Latino-themed postgame fireworks show (weather-permitting), presented by Verizon. Don’t miss out on this special celebration!
