Tigers' Wild Card hopes take hit in loss to Braves

October 2nd, 2016

With the Tigers' 5-3 loss to the Braves in Atlanta on Saturday, Detroit fell 1 1/2 games back in the American League Wild Card standings after the Blue Jays beat the Red Sox, 4-3, in Boston.
If the Tigers lose on Sunday, they will be eliminated from postseason contention. If both the Orioles and Blue Jays loses and Detroit wins or just one of those teams lose and Detroit wins, the Tigers would play a makeup game at home against the Indians on Monday (for a game that was postponed on Thursday).
In that situation, if the Tigers were to beat the Indians Monday, they would play Wild Card tie-breakers with the Blue Jays or Orioles before proceeding to the Wild Card Game.
