After a second Spring Training in Major League camp, it was up to Tim Anderson to show that he can take it to the next level, and so far the shortstop -- the No. 2 prospect in the White Sox organization -- is not disappointing by any stretch of the imagination.
In his first season at Triple-A, Anderson has shown he can handle the uptick in pitching, and he's on a tear as May rolls on. Anderson hit his second homer in as many nights and extended his hitting streak to six games in Triple-A Charlotte's 8-3 victory over Durham in International League action Friday night, another do-it-all game for the 22-year-old.
During his recent hot streak, the No. 17 overall pick in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft has gone 15-for-31 with 11 runs scored and four steals.
The rest of the best performances from top prospects Friday:
• Matt Davidson, the No. 28 prospect for the White Sox, actually outdid Anderson in the Knights' win Friday night. The third baseman bopped two home runs with a two-run shot and a solo job to go along with a run-scoring single on a four-RBI night. In his third season at Triple-A, Davidson is seeking a third 20-homer season -- he's at six after Friday's two-fer.

• Cubs No. 5 prospect Albert Almora continued to swing a hot bat, delivering a walk-off two-run double for Triple-A Iowa and extending his hitting streak to 10 games in the process. Almora added a triple and is now batting .362 during his 10-game streak, including four straight two-hit games and five in his last six contests.
• Sam Howard has a long road ahead of him, as the Rockies' No. 24 prospect is pitching for the Class A Modesto Nuts, but he had his best start of the season after notching 10 strikeouts in a seven-inning effort at San Jose. He allowed two runs on four hits in his longest outing of the season.
• Alert: Daniel Mengden allowed a run. Yes, the Nashville Sounds right-hander and No. 14 prospect in the A's system was not perfect, but he remained unbeaten on the season with a no-decision vs. Iowa, allowing just two hits in seven innings of work. For the season, Mengden has allowed just three earned runs in 43 innings between Nashville and Double-A Midland. The run he allowed Friday was his first with the Sounds, coming in his third start at the Triple-A level.
• Gleyber Torres, the Cubs' No. 1 prospect and 25th overall in baseball, continued a strong showing in May with a 1-for-4 performance Friday night -- that one hit being a three-run homer that broke open the game with Frederick in the seventh inning. In the last 10 games for the shortstop from Venezuela, Torres is batting .350 with three home runs and six RBIs.
• No. 9 overall prospect Trea Turner (Nationals' No. 2) continued to swing a hot bat, delivering his third homer of the season and extending his hitting streak to four games with a 2-for-4 performance in a 4-3 Syracuse win over Rochester. He also swiped his 14th base of the year.

• Outfielder Donnie Dewees, the Cubs' No. 12 prospect, had a monster game in the South Bend Cubs' 15-2 win at Lansing. He notched his first four-hit game of the season and racked up six RBIs, thanks in part to his seventh triple of the year. He also added his ninth stolen base and a pair of runs.
• St. Louis' No. 23 prospect Trey Nielsen went the distance for the Springfield Cardinals, allowing just one run on seven hits in a 6-1 victory over Northwest Arkansas in Texas League action. After a rough start to his first season at Double-A, Nielsen has righted the ship, allowing just two earned runs over his last three starts, covering 21 innings.
