ARLINGTON -- Rangers right-hander Timothy Lincecum expressed confidence that he will be ready to go when he is eligible to come off the disabled list on May 28.
The Rangers are also still sticking to the plan of using Lincecum as a reliever when he is activated. Lincecum will take the next step toward that when he pitches for Triple-A Round Rock on Monday against Iowa.
Lincecum is scheduled to pitch one inning, and it will be his first game since Aug. 6, 2016, when he was with the Angels.
"Just want to see some hitters," Lincecum said. "It's been a while. I've seen some live at-bats and stuff like that, but I haven't pitched in a game in a long time. Just kind of get my feet under me, grasp those emotions and adrenaline of the game.
"Just attack it like if you were going to ride a bike again, you know that old notion it's like riding a bike again. Try to approach it that way and let everything settle in. I don't think it will be a problem. I've done it a thousand times, I don't know how many times, a lot of times."

Lincecum sat out last season and signed with the Rangers on March 7. He was close to pitching in a game in Spring Training but developed a blister on his right middle finger. He started the season on the DL, and the Rangers moved him to the 60-day DL to keep him from rushing back.
The initial plan is to pitch Lincecum every other day in Round Rock and stretch him out to a maximum of three innings. He is eager to get back and help a team that entered Sunday nine games under .500. The tough part has been not being able to help out his team.
"Yes, it is," Lincecum said. "When you have a front-row seat to see everything, it's harder when you can't do something about it, especially when you're in a place to be able to. We've all dealt with nicks ... and things like that, so when the blister is what's holding you back, it's kind of like, 'Really?'"
Nadel birthday bash benefit teens
Tickets are still available for Eric Nadel's annual Birthday Bash, which will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Kessler Theater in Dallas. All proceeds benefit Focus on Teens, a non-profit organization that supports homeless teens attending schools in the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) and Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD).
The concert will be headlined by Shemekia Copeland, who sings in a variety of genres, including contemporary blues, gospel-fueled R&B and soul music. Seth Walker, who specializes in blues, Americana and roots, will also appear. Tickets are available on prekindle.
Rangers beat 
• Joey Gallo was out of Sunday's lineup after hitting two home runs on Saturday night. Rangers manager Jeff Banister said the day off had been scheduled in advance.
"You look at the schedule and where we are at, running him back and forth from the outfield and first base, it's a long season," Banister said. "He has a history of some hamstring stuff. … If you've noticed, we have had some injuries. We wanted to make sure we give him a day off."
Both of Gallo's home runs came off left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez. It marked the sixth time in club history a left-handed hitter had homered twice off southpaws in a game. Rusty Greer did it twice, while Josh Hamilton, Rafael Palmeiro and Lee Stevens each did it once.

• Pitcher Bartolo Colon was honored before Sunday's game as the Rangers Player of the Month for April. He went 1-0 with a 2.87 ERA in four starts and two relief appearances.
