Hutton to be replaced as TV analyst

MIAMI -- Tommy Hutton, the popular television color analyst for the Marlins, will not be returning to Fox Sports Florida in 2016. After 19 years with Hutton in the booth, the team and network are moving in another direction.

The search for a new color analyst will begin after Thanksgiving weekend.

"A decision was made with Fox Sports Florida to move forward with a new color analyst next season," said P.J. Loyello, Marlins senior vice president of communications and broadcasting. "We thank Tommy for being a part of our telecasts over the years and wish him the best."

As a player and broadcaster, Hutton, 69, has spent 51 years associated with professional baseball.

In their history, the Marlins have had just two color analysts. The late Gary Carter, the Hall of Famer catcher, handled the duties for the club's first four seasons before Hutton took over.

Although they will have a new color analyst, the Marlins intend to retain play-by-play voice Rich Waltz. No changes are expected on the English-language radio side, with Dave Van Horne and Glenn Geffner scheduled to return.

Hutton said he intends to pursue other broadcast opportunities. He wasn't given any specific reason for the decision.

"From the Fox side, from the Marlins side, we decided to move in another direction, period," Hutton said.
