Lasorda, Hough to represent Dodgers at Draft

NEW YORK -- Hall of Famer Tommy Lasorda and current senior adviser Charlie Hough will represent the Dodgers for the second consecutive year at the 2014 First-Year Player Draft next month.

Last year was a comeback for the 86-year-old Lasorda, who was a late scratch at the 2012 Draft when he suffered a mild heart attack at a pre-Draft function and was ordered by Commissioner Bud Selig to go to the hospital. He had a stent inserted into a clogged artery at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.

"The doctors confirmed I do bleed Dodger Blue," Lasorda joked afterward.

The 2014 Draft will take place on June 5-7, beginning with the Draft preview show on MLB.com and MLB Network on Thursday, June 5, at 3 p.m. PT. Live Draft coverage from MLB Network's Studio 42 begins at 4 p.m., with the top 74 picks being streamed on MLB.com and broadcast on MLB Network. MLB.com's exclusive coverage of the second and third days will begin with a live Draft show at 9:30 a.m. PT on June 6.

Lasorda, special adviser to chairman Mark Walter, has represented the Dodgers at the Draft every year but one since 2002. He will be accompanied by Hough, one of Lasorda's all-time favorite players and former All-Star knuckleballer who now serves the club in player development.

The Dodgers will draft 22nd in the first round.
