LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers Hall of Fame former manager Tom Lasorda underwent surgery to replace a pacemaker, the club announced on Friday.
"Tommy Lasorda underwent surgery to replace his pacemaker yesterday. He's doing well and looking forward to returning to Dodger Stadium," the club announced on its Twitter account.

Lasorda, 89, has been hospitalized since early May. He received his first pacemaker following a 2012 heart attack. Lasorda stepped aside from his role as manager in 1996 after suffering a heart attack. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame the next year.
"I spoke to Tommy a few days ago and he was in a pretty good place," manager Dave Roberts said on Friday. "I encourage him to get back to the ballpark. We've got a seat for him. We need him. He was in a good place. I did hear the good news, so hopefully we'll get him here in the near future."
In his 68th season with the Dodgers, Lasorda is special advisor to chairman Mark Walter.
