Sipp headed to DL; Hoyt to be recalled
The Astros are expected to place left-hander Tony Sipp on the 10-day disabled list with side/back soreness and recall right-hander James Hoyt from Triple-A Fresno, a source told MLB.com's Brian McTaggart on Tuesday.
Sipp, 34, struck out two batters and allowed one run in 2 1/3 innings to begin 2018 before suffering the injury. He has recorded a 3.82 ERA in 188 1/3 innings over parts of the past five seasons with Houston.
Hoyt, 31, went 1-0 with a 4.38 ERA in 49 1/3 frames for the Astros in 2017. He allowed nine runs (eight earned) in 8 1/3 innings in Spring Training with Houston.
