DENVER -- Rockies shortstop Trevor Story tested his bruised right middle finger, and second baseman DJ LeMahieu tested his left knee contusion Monday. Both may be available soon.
Story was injured Sunday when D-backs reliever Silvino Bracho hit him in the ninth inning with a 93 mph fastball. He stayed in the game to run the bases and scored on Mark Reynolds' walk-off home run, but manager Walt Weiss said Story would not have played defense had the game gone to extra innings.
Story took batting practice before Monday's game against the Blue Jays and said he felt "good" despite the swelling, which he treated with ice and a soft tissue massage. He had an X-ray Sunday showing no damage.
"It's just a little tricky because it's right on a position where I'd grip the ball or the bat," Story said. "So as soon as we get that swelling down, I'll be good."

Weiss said he hoped Story will be available to pinch-hit, which would be determined close to game time. Story said he expects to be able to start in a day or two.
"[Things are] better than expected, really," Weiss said. "I was thinking the worst yesterday when both of them went down, but both showed up relatively well today, especially Trevor. We're still crossing our fingers on DJ, but the MRI was clean, so I think he's going to be OK, too."

LeMahieu suffered a left knee contusion diving for Paul Goldschmidt's single up the middle in Sunday's game. He wore a knee brace after the game but did not wear one Monday.
LeMahieu did not take batting practice but took swings in the cage before the game. Weiss said he expects LeMahieu to avoid the 15-day disabled list.
"Yesterday I was worried," LeMahieu said. "Today, it feels sore, but it doesn't feel like it'll affect me. I'll be ready to go [Tuesday]."
The Rockies did not make a roster move to add an extra infielder because Weiss was concerned about how taxed the bullpen was. Backup catcher Tony Wolters, who started in the Minor Leagues as a shortstop, will be the primary backup to Daniel Descalso and Cristhian Adames in the middle infield.
