Tribe's 10th-ranked prospect draws suspension
Howard, a second-round Draft pick in 2011, tests positive for PED
Indians prospect Dillon Howard, ranked the club's No. 10 overall prospect by MLB.com, has received a 50-game suspension for violating the Minor League drug prevention and treatment program.
Howard, a second-round draft pick in 2011, tested positive for an Amphetamine, a performance-enhancing substance. The suspension of Howard, who is currently listed on the roster of the rookie level Arizona League Indians, is effective immediately.
"The Indians organization values the purpose served by Major League Baseball's Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program and we are committed to supporting Dillon as he receives the help he needs," said Ross Atkins, Indians vice president of player development.
Howard also spent last season with the rookie level club in Arizona, going 1-7 with a 7.90 ERA over 12 appearances (10 starts).
