ARLINGTON -- Troy's is coming to Texas Live!
Former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman is opening his own restaurant in the $250 million Texas Live! entertainment complex, which is scheduled to open later this summer between Globe Life Park and AT&T Stadium.
Texas Live! is part of the spectacular new development that includes the Live! by Loews luxury hotel opening in 2019 and the Rangers' new ballpark -- Globe Life Field -- which opens in '20.
"It's tremendous," Aikman said Tuesday. "The city of Arlington has been outstanding in what it has done for its sports teams and the entire community. I think it's awesome, what Arlington has done getting the Cowboys' stadium built, the new baseball stadium and this entertainment complex. There is nothing else like it, nothing compares to it. The winners are going to be the customers and the fans. They will have a place to hang out even when games aren't being played."
Aikman described his place as being a Texas beer hall with an extensive food menu.

"Gourmet burgers and a few personal touches, favorites of my own," Aikman said. "There will be some healthy items as well."
Troy's will be located at the main entrance to Texas Live!, but it is only one of many eating, drinking and entertainment venues that will be a part of the 200,000-square foot complex being developed by the Cordish Companies of Baltimore.
"Having Troy's at the marquee entrance is a real statement for Texas Live!," said Reed Cordish, one of the principals of the Cordish Companies. "We have some real local connections here, but to have a true local legend is as good as it gets."
Texas Live! will have many components, including the Live! Arena with bars, dining and big screen televisions, as well as Arlington Backyard, Lockhart Smoke House, renown chef Guy Fieri's restaraunt, the flagship PBR country bar, Revolver Brewing and Rangers Republic.
Arlington Backyard is the outdoor venue that can host 5,000 to 7,000 people for concerts, festivals and other events beyond Rangers and Cowboys games. Rangers Republic will be the ultimate clubhouse for Rangers fans, with state-of-the-art and traditional entertainment games for both adults and children.
With retractable windows, open-air spaces and free-flowing walkways, fans will be able to find multiple nationally-recognized venues for entertainment.
"There is no other place like this anywhere in the country," Cordish said. "This vision has grown since we started. We can't wait for people to come through this. This has the ability to become a regional draw for live music and festival. Arlington has the ability to become the national festival capital."

The development will continue long after Texas Live!, the Live! by Loews Hotel and Globe Life Field all open. Other development is expected to follow in the neighborhood and Cordish has also been assigned the task of repurposing the existing ballpark into the overall complex.
"This is only the beginning," Cordish said.
All of this is being built while construction of Globe Life Field continues with the pouring and weather-proofing of the concrete in the lower portion of the $1.1 billion facility.
"This thing is going to start looking like a wedding cake with various levels added," said Rangers senior vice president Jack Hill. "You can already see the formation of the main concourse. Everything is on schedule. We have been fortunate with the weather. We have about 500 workers out here on a daily basis. Everything is moving very well."
