Dodgers keeping Seager at shortstop
Dodgers keeping Seager at shortstop
Top prospect won't move to third, where Turner will be fixture

PHOENIX -- While the Dodgers value the flexibility of moving second basemen Howie Kendrick and Chase Utley around the infield, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Justin Turner and Corey Seager won't be moving off third base and shortstop, respectively. Turner, a utility man until wresting the starting third-base job from Juan Uribe, is being eased back into action after offseason microfracture surgery on his left knee. Roberts said Turner is running and doing all baseball drills. • Spring Training:Schedule | Tickets | Information Seager, baseball's top prospect, saw some time at third base last year and scouts have always speculated whether his 6-foot-4 frame would be better suited to third base than shortstop. But current management has viewed Seager exclusively as a shortstop and so does Roberts. "We'll keep Corey at short," Roberts said.
General manager Farhan Zaidi earlier this week said Kiké Hernandez is considered the primary backup to Seager at shortstop, a position that Turner has played in the past, as have non-roster veterans Charlie Culberson and Elian Herrera. Kendrick and Utley figure to share second base.
