Parmelee turning it around at the plate

CLEVELAND -- Right fielder Chris Parmelee is starting to show signs that he's turning it around at the plate, as he entered Saturday's game against the Indians with homers in back-to-back games.

Parmelee is also riding a five-game hitting streak that has helped raise his average from .217 to .237. Parmelee has fared much better on the road this season, hitting .361 in 11 games away from Target Field.

"I'm feeling good," Parmelee said. "I'm seeing the ball well, and I've been fortunate to put some good swings on them."

Ron Gardenhire has noticed a difference in the way Parmelee is carrying himself around the clubhouse, and the manager doesn't think Parmelee appears to be as bothered by his slow start as he was earlier in the year.

"He's comfortable," Gardenhire said. "He's feeling really good. I think we talked about him getting over the hump last year. Earlier he was worried about his at-bats with a lot of one-on-ones and conversations. But you can always see it when he's feeling confident because he goes about his business. And he's there."
