Twins community fund to host RBI regional tournament July 14-16

The tournament will bring together baseball and softball teams from Minneapolis/St. Paul, Kansas City, Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Louis.

The Twins Community Fund announced it will host the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) Central Regional Tournament, Friday, July 14 through Sunday, July 16 at fields in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
The tournament will bring together baseball and softball teams from Minneapolis/St. Paul, Kansas City, Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Louis. Tournament games will be held at Toni Stone Field and Concordia University's Carlander Field in St. Paul, and Neiman Athletic Complex and Parade Stadium in Minneapolis.
The tournament has three divisions including the girls' softball division for 16-18 year olds, the junior boys division for 13-15 year olds and senior boys division for 16-18 year olds. Winners from each division will advance to the RBI World Series hosted by the Cincinnati Reds, with baseball and softball tournament games scheduled from Tuesday, August 1st until Saturday, August 12th at the P&G Cincinnati MLB Youth Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Twins RBI program will enter one all-star team, comprised of players from the Minneapolis and St. Paul league, in each tournament division. Twins RBI is operated in partnership with Major League Baseball, Twins Community Fund, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and St. Paul Parks and Recreation.

RBI is a worldwide, Major League Baseball initiative for youth ages 13-18. Founded in 1989, the program is designed to promote baseball and softball in inner cities, while also increasing self-esteem and encouraging academic participation and achievement. RBI serves more than 125,000 youth in 175 cities. In Minneapolis and St. Paul, the Twins RBI, serves more than 5,000 youth.
