Escobar jams shoulder, will have MRI

MINNEAPOLIS -- Shortstop Eduardo Escobar left Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Tigers in the fourth inning with a jammed right shoulder after making a diving stop on a ground ball hit by Torii Hunter. He'll be re-evaluated on Wednesday and will undergo an MRI.

Escobar dived to his right to make the stop and tried to throw to first base from the ground, but Hunter beat the throw. Escobar remained on the ground in pain after the play and was visited by trainer Tony Leo and manager Ron Gardenhire.

Escobar left the game and appeared to be in pain while walking off the field. He was replaced by Eduardo Nunez at shortstop.

"They're going to do some stuff with him tomorrow and likely take some pictures," Gardenhire said. "They're calling it a jammed shoulder right now. He's definitely really sore. We'll let all that take place tomorrow."

Escobar, 25, is hitting .273/.314/.402 with five homers, 34 doubles and 29 RBIs in 126 games this season. He hopes this is just a minor injury, though he was wearing a sling.

"I'm sore right now, but I'm OK," Escobar said.
