Pipeline Preview: Jorge seeks fifth straight quality start

June 12th, 2017

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: Taylor Trammell (Reds' No. 3), Dayton vs. West Michigan (12 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Trammell put together his fourth multi-hit game of the month on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with a triple in Class A Dayton's loss to West Michigan. After getting off to a slow start in April, Trammell picked up the pace in May and is batting .268 through 54 games in his full-season debut.

Pitcher to watch: (Twins' No. 9), Chattanooga vs. Montgomery (8:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Jorge will be seeking his fifth consecutive quality start when he takes the mound against the Biscuits. The 23-year-old struck out a season-high nine in his last start as he gave up two runs in 6 2/3 innings. Jorge, who has won four straight decisions, is 6-1 with a 3.32 ERA through 11 starts this season.

Duel of the Day: Dakota Hudson (Cardinals' No. 9) vs. Andrew Sopko (Dodgers' No. 27), Springfield vs. Tulsa (12:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Hudson has been throwing the ball well lately, going at least six innings and giving up two earned runs or fewer in five consecutive starts. The 22-year-old has a 2.98 ERA through 10 starts this season and threw his first complete game in his last outing.

A few rough outings have distorted Sopko's numbers, but he's pitched better than his 1-4 record and 4.29 ERA would indicate. Sopko has given up one earned run or fewer in six of his nine starts, including five innings of one-run ball in his last outing. Sopko is also coming off an outing in which he threw 94 pitches, a season high, and matched another season high by throwing five innings.
