Pipeline preview: Romero ready to extend hot streak

August 2nd, 2017

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: Austin Hays (Orioles' No. 2), Bowie vs. New Hampshire (12:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Hays boosted his average to .338 with a 3-for-5 performance in Bowie's win over New Hampshire on Tuesday. The 22-year-old has done nothing but hit since he was drafted in the third round of the 2016 Draft. Hays hit .336 in his debut last season and then batted .328 with Class A Advanced Frederick before he was promoted earlier this year.

Pitcher to watch: (Twins' No. 4), Chattanooga vs. Montgomery (8:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Romero, the No. 82 overall prospect, has allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his past 12 starts. The 22-year-old posted a 1.67 ERA in six starts in July and set a season high with nine strikeouts in his last outing. In that start, Romero walked one and gave up one run on four hits in five innings.

Duel of the Day: (Braves' No. 8) vs. (Orioles' No. 25), Gwinnett vs. Norfolk (7:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Gohara, the No. 96 overall prospect, struggled in his Triple-A debut and will be looking for better results this time around. After posting a 2.60 ERA through 12 games (11 starts) with Double-A Mississippi, Gohara gave up four earned runs in 4 2/3 innings in his debut with Gwinnett.

Ynoa, like Gohara, is also looking to bounce back from a rough outing. The 24-year-old gave up five runs in 6 2/3 innings in his last start, which bumped his ERA to 6.56. Prior to that outing, Ynoa had put together a couple of good starts as he gave up one run over 10 1/3 innings. Ynoa, who is 4-8 on the season, has also put together a winning streak, notching wins in three straight starts.
