MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins added to their organizational depth on Thursday, officially signing six players to Minor League contracts with invites to Major League Spring Training.
The club re-signed infielders Tommy Field and Leonardo Reginatto; and signed right-hander Drew Rucinski, infielder Benji Gonzalez and catchers Eddy Rodriguez and Dan Rohlfing. The Twins also signed right-hander Alex Wimmers and first baseman/outfielder Ben Paulsen to Minor League deals earlier this month.
Field spent most of last season at Triple-A Rochester after signing with the Twins in mid-May after beginning the year with the Tigers. The 29-year-old has played parts of four seasons in the Majors with the Rockies, Angels and Rangers.
Reginatto, 26, spent most of last year at Double-A Chattanooga, but he played his final 23 games of the year at Triple-A. The Brazilian middle infielder hit a combined .265/.318/.327 with two homers, 20 doubles and 46 RBIs in 132 games.
Rucinski, 27, pitched at Triple-A Iowa in 2016, making 28 starts for the Cubs affiliate. He posted a 5.92 ERA with 116 strikeouts and 43 walks in 155 innings. He made seven big league appearances, including one start, with the Angels from 2014-15, posting a 6.28 ERA.
Rodriguez brings experience behind the plate, as this will be his 10th Minor League season after spending the last two years in the Yankees' organization. The 31-year-old played in two games with the Padres in 2012, but he hasn't returned to the Majors since. He's a career .218/.266/.353 hitter in the Minors.
Rohlfing, 27, returns to the organization, as he played in the Twins' Minor League system from 2007-2014. He played at Triple-A Reno last year, hitting .289/.331/.474 with five homers and 18 RBIs in 43 games with the D-backs affiliate.
