SAN FRANCISCO -- The Twins are keeping their decision on the No. 1 overall pick in Monday's Draft so close to the vest that even manager Paul Molitor said he doesn't know who the club will select.
Twins chief baseball officer Derek Falvey has said the club is considering five to six players for the first selection in the Draft. Top candidates include Louisville left-hander/first baseman Brendan McKay, Vanderbilt right-hander Kyle Wright, high school right-hander/shortstop Hunter Greene, high school left-hander MacKenzie Gore and high school shortstop Royce Lewis.

"I couldn't tell you what's going to happen, to be honest," Molitor said. "Or whether it'll change in the last 24 hours, I'm not sure. But I'll be interested and watching. It won't have an impact here in the short term, but I'm just hoping we have a good Draft."
The Twins got their last looks at McKay and Wright on Saturday, as they both pitched in the NCAA Super Regionals. McKay earned the win against Kentucky, allowing two runs over 6 2/3 innings with nine strikeouts, while Wright gave up seven runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings in a loss to No. 1 Oregon State.
Minnesota also hosted Greene for a workout at Target Field on Friday, and he impressed with a fastball that reached 100 mph and four homers during batting practice.
Money could be a consideration, as the Twins could look to sign the No. 1 pick for under the slot value of $7,770,700 to spread that money around for later picks to sign for more than the assigned slot value. They have a bonus pool of $14,156,800 for the first 10 rounds.
"I've had very general conversations about what their plans are," Molitor said. "But every day I've talked to them this week, they've been in the middle of trying to further their depth on their board and come to a conclusion on 1-1."
